The name Hoakalei comes from the legendary native tale of Hi ‘iaka―favorite sister of the fire goddess Pele―and
her epic journey across the Hawaiian Islands along the Plains of
‘Ewa, where she visited a tranquil spring of cool water called
Hoakalei (reflection of a lei). It was in this spring that she
saw her own reflection adorned with garlands of Lehua blossoms.
This elegant, poetic word from Hawaiian lore is a fitting name for Hoakalei Country Club. An elegant portico and well-appointed foyers will provide a warm welcome to members and guests entering Hoakalei’s clubhouse. Ideally situated, the two-story facility will offer spectacular views of both the golf course and the marina. Diners will be able to enjoy casual fare in the grill and member lounge and bar, or dine al fresco on the patio.
Other amenities planned for the clubhouse will include a fitness center with state-of-the-art athletic equipment, men’s and women’s locker rooms with lounge areas, an extensive pro shop, and a snack bar.

Hoakalei can assist with all aspects of private events, business meetings, weddings, golf outings and parties. Hoakalei is dedicated to giving back to the community and to the islands. In conjunction with the groundbreaking ceremony in February 2006, Haseko and ClubCorp announced the formation of the Ernie “Els Cup” Invitational, a charity golf tournament that will benefit the ‘Ewa Beach community and will be hosted annually by Hoakalei Country Club. The tournament’s first beneficiary will be the athletics department of James Campbell High School, a local ‘Ewa Beach high school. During the announcement of the tournament, Els expressed his strong belief in encouraging youth to further their education and develop their sports talents toward building self-confidence and leadership skills.
