Hoakalei Country Club

The Hoakalei golf course, the first Ernie Els design in Hawai‘i, will span 248 acres of unrepressed vistas of the ‘Ewa coastline. Numerous sets of tees, water features, and strategically placed bunkers will complement the tropical terrain, resulting in a rapturous locale and design for both the leisure and competitive player.

Els was selected to design the golf course at Hoakalei Country Club due, in part, to his international reputation as an outstanding designer—having carved courses from natural environments while displaying their challenges and hazards—and the reputation of his designs as both fun and challenging. Els has been consistently ranked among the world’s top five professional golfers since 1994, winning three major championships and more than 60 professional tournaments worldwide, and is currently designing nine additional golf courses in other exotic locales.

The par-72, 7,400-yard championship golf course will offer four sets of tees to accommodate golfers of all levels. Grassed with Seashore Paspalum turf, the course will feature a unique double-split fairway on the 7th hole that will force players to make a strategic decision. The par-3 hole twelve, with its “island” green, will provide another stern test. Despite any challenges the players might experience during their round, they will no doubt appreciate the aesthetics of the course — a reflection of the scenic splendor of O‘ahu.
